This ClubWPT review is designed to provide a brief introduction to the only completely legal USA-friendly poker site. The current legal situation of poker in the United States is a mess, but ClubWPT.com has managed to avoid all that by taking a unique approach to online poker: subscription-based poker that gives players access to $100,000 worth of cash and prizes every month.
Unfortunately, ClubWPT Poker just doesn’t deliver a decent poker experience. As nice as the idea of legal subscription poker sounds, it just isn’t executed properly. For that reason, we think a much better option for USA players is real money poker at Carbon Poker.

How ClubWPT Works
ClubWPT poker is set up a subscription poker site. All members of ClubWPT.com pay a flat monthly fee of $19.95. In return, players are given a specific number of tournament chips which can be used to buy in to various poker tournaments at ClubWPT.com. These tournaments offer players real money prizes, free entry to live events and other rewards.
This unique approach to online poker makes ClubWPT legal in the United States. The subscription model basically provides a service, and players can then play all the poker they want. At no time can players ever make additional deposits like they can at traditional online poker rooms.
In addition to real money tournaments, members of ClubWPT also receive a variety of other perks as a part of their membership. ClubWPT members also receive special Las Vegas discounts, access to footage from major World Poker Tour events, a free subscription to WPT Poker magazine and more. These extras aren’t anything mind blowing, though. The real advantage to joining ClubWPT.com is being able to play online poker and win money legally.
ClubWPT Tournaments
When you sign up for a VIP account at ClubWPT.com, you’ll be given 500 Tournament Points (TPs). These TPs can then be used to buy into tournaments and SNGs at ClubWPT. If you ever have less than 500 TPs at the beginning of any day, your points balance will automatically be brought back up to 500 TPs.
Tournaments cost anywhere from nothing to 500 TPs to participate in. The biggest tournament is the $10,000 Guarantee which costs 500 TPs. Below that, there are a variety of smaller poker tournaments with varying costs. Players can also participate in unscheduled sit-n-go tournaments around the clock.
The tournament selection at ClubWPT.com has really grown in recent times. With nearly 5,000 players logged in at any given time, there are always plenty of games to participate in. If you win one of the bigger tournaments at ClubWPT.com, you’ll walk home with $1,000 and a couple thousand extra TPs.
Club WPT Poker Cash Games
Unfortunately, ClubWPT Poker does not currently offer any cash games. We would definitely like to see this change in the future, but for now it’s all about the tournaments at ClubWPT.com. If you’re a cash game player from the United States, you’re going to have to either settle with tournaments or find local games to play in for now.
Overall Impression of ClubWPT Poker
Club WPT Poker is a pretty decent replacement for online poker in the United States. It’s not the biggest or most glamorous poker site in the world, but it works well and provides players with a real ability to play online poker and win money. One of the greatest advantages to playing here is that you won’t have to worry about the FBI closing down ClubWPT.com and freezing your bankroll.
The poker website and software could use a little sprucing up, though. I was unable to download the software from the website when using Firefox. I had to switch to Internet Explorer to get it to work. The software itself works, but it can be difficult to see how many players are registered in tournaments and what the exact prize structure is.
Despite its limitations, ClubWPT poker is worth considering. One of the nice things about ClubWPT.com is that the membership fee is a flat $19.95. That’s the most money you could ever lose in a single month at ClubWPT. This is not like a normal online poker site where you can spend as much money as you want at any time.
You won’t get rich playing at ClubWPT, but you might win a seat to a major live tournament and get rich that way. You might also win a little extra spending money while playing here. If you truly enjoy playing poker, then ClubWPT.com is the place for you. If you’re only interested in grinding the tables for a living, this is not the place to do it.
